Under de Sea

Hadn't got to putting this up until now. But it's kind of fun, anyhow...deep sea diver battling huge hammerhead shark? yes please.

More of the TV Show

Here are the rest of the pieces of my tv show pitch. Gramps in rotation is pretty fun, no?

The Grasshopper and the Ants

My final for Concepts, it's the Aesop's Fable about the Grasshopper and the Ants, done in six 5x10 panels. Basically lazy hipster grasshopper doesn't prepare for the winter, studious little ants do, grasshopper starves and freezes...maybe not so uplifting, but I had fun.

TV Show Pitch

So this is my show....currently called Benny Quigly: KnickKnack Explorer. The idea is that eleven year old Benny lives with his Grandfather, Orville Quigly, who used to be a world-famous explorer. Benny wants to be just like Gramps and spends the bulk of his time on the edge of his seat, listening to tales of Gramps' glory days, with his little dog Kipling at his side. But when Gramps dozes off in the middle of the retelling, Benny and Kipling take the adventure into their own hands, through their imaginations, and the basement becomes the jungle, the attic becomes the amazon, the backyard becomes the arctic. It's sort of like wishbone meets Indiana Jones. Basically, I would so watch this show. But anyway, here are the character designs for Benny, Gramps, and Kipling, as well as a shot of Gramps' study.

Go For Broke

Editorial piece I had something like three hours to do for concepts. Its 5 by 5 inches....meant to accompany an article about how it's way too expensive to go to adult birthday parties. Not sure...but it was fun drawing and painting many cakes.

Wicked Pillowfight

This is something like 11 x 17, acrylic on board, what else...multi-figure composition was the goal. Overall, I'm into it.

Book Jacket Design

This is a jacket design for a very wonderful book, Hairstyles of the Damned, by Joe Meno. If you haven't read it, I'd say get yourself to a library. Anyway, its pretty much the first time I decided to color digitally since...I don't know. But I'm actually really happy with it.

Lindsay Lohan

diptych portrait of Lindsay Lohan....yea, I've probably lost my mind entirely, choosing her as my subject. But oh well. drunk and debauched vs. happy and homosexual.

Black and White Characters

monster of rock, strangest fight scene ever, frustrated fortune teller, cute to brute transformation

FairyTale Revamp

These are my two versions, the long one is the final, of Rapunzel set in 1950s suburbia. I like the characters better in the bottom, but the composition better in the top. They're both acrylic, the bottom is 20 by 27, the top is something like 9 by 18.

Halloween Poster

Poster for mica's halloween party. It's circus/freakshow themed, hence the contortionist. The original is sort of tiny, 5.5x 8.5, but it's digitally assembled and blown up to 11 x 17. I'm kind of into it.

Character Redux

So I haven't really been on top of the whole updating my work thing recently...mostly because I've been getting some seriously harsh crits and intending to rework most of the pieces before posting them. But I will get to it. In the meantime, this is a piece reworking Ronald McDonald. She's got some street cred, and she's a little sassy and sporty. Soon to come: Rhonda McDonald in action. Stay tuned.

Summer Job!

So for my summer work...

I was approached by a very sweet man named Michael Goldoor, who asked me to illustrate a children's book he'd written for his granddaughters. It took me something like two months, from sketches to finals, with 23 paintings total. Here is the cover and my favorite pieces.

closet monster 6 and 7

i'm not putting up 8 and 9 because i don't like them as much, but you can imagine what happens, i'm sure.

The Girl Who Cried Closet Monster 1-5

the first five in a nine part series based on the boy who cried wolf. i updated it a bit, to the girl who cried closet monster. it almost killed me to finish all nine of these in two weeks without a sketch phase, but i somehow managed it anyway.

End of the School Year Updates

these are two from illustration II that i never put up. they're both watercolor on bristol, one with ink, one with brown colored pencil.

just cropping up everywhere

this in progress, a bit of david mamet's 'sexual perversity in chicago'. i've cast the girl on the left, joan, with an unknown, previously unseen actress, but on your right we have the famous and fabulous alyssa bell playing the part of deborah.
