Sketchfest 2011

I can't be stopped.

Moving Map

Aight so this isn't really art. But WHOA.

Isn't moving again so soon fun?

Here's hoping this time I won't lose all my stuff. Where was my passport, you might ask, after this last move? Oh, in an old discarded handbag in the hatch of my car. GOOD SPOT RACHEL.

Art For Japan

I made this painting for Meg and Alice Hunt's Art For Japan call to action. It's a 9x13" painting that I'm sending off to Oregon in hopes that someone will buy it and that money will help some folks.

Give somebody a hug please :)

doublewhammy

extra time + new sketchbook + a ton of nonsense sifting around in my mind = two nonsense updates this week.

Sketch, better late than never

throwbackkkk:

Illustration Friday: Stir

Cannibalism is most likely the answer.

Sketchmess

still going strong?

Illustration Friday: Warning

It remains to be seen if comics could be the next frontier. But I thought I'd try at least one. It also remains to be seen if I'd like them better painted. But the coloring was kind of easy, breezy, and fun here. I liked that.

New Promo. Finally.

After at least a month of talking the talk about this mailer, I finally finished it! Once I get actual brochures I will take some photos, since they are far less impressive when they're not folded in their proper form. But I'm glad it's done, and I'm happy with it so far...remains to be seen if I will be when they show up at my door. I like the squashed girl at the bottom the most.

Illustration Friday: Layers

Digital! Awww man!

I came so close to drawing an enormous sandwich.....but then I went with my old favorite.

Revised Pile

Revised sketch for my pile of folks mailer. I feel better about it. The people look more squashy, i think. I have slacked on my illustration friday thing this weekend. I hope I will get to it tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

sometime's there's nothing left to do.

...but listen to tom waits all day.

Philadephia Stories!

So I finally got the winter issue of Philadelphia Stories Magazine that featured my work! They chose my Johnstown Flood piece that I painted for thesis last fall.

...try not to mind my goofy faces in these photos. I was really psyched.

Illustration Friday: Sweater

I was stoked when I saw this week's Illustration Friday was sweater...this is immediately what came to mind.

Cram as many folks as you can in.

Also...listen to this:

Happy Valentine's Day!

These are the sketches and final piece I did for a Valentine's Day commission for my friend Elyza . She and her darling gentleman caller both love cacti. Sorry, I mean succulents. They both love succulents. Happy Valentine's, y'all.

The Bludge

So to make the most out of my last day living in Hampden, Marissa and I played quidditch on the PS2 all afternoon. Yep.

I drew this while she was taking her turns.

We're the coolest.

A Departure

A little tardy on my sunday sketch...but this one has color! Fwoooaaah!

In other news I am moving out this week. My life is aisles of piles.

Sunday Night Sketch Scramble

and the shuffle begins. get out the boxes, folks. i'm blowin this popstand.

Mailer Sketch

Working on sketches for a trifold mailer. I want to do a big pile of folks inside, type on outside back, little decorative spot for addressing. But I keep changing the plan for the inside fold. Text? Blank? Garg. We'll see if I ever get it done. Things are a bit hectic now.

Sketch...slowly but surely.

Stuff's been crazy, but I need to get back into this.
