These are the other two bits of the Dorian Gray story...gets a little gruesome towards the end.

Picture of Dorian Gray 1 of 3

My first piece for independent study...working on an old article from Scholastic Scope Magazine that adapted Wilde's Picture of Dorian Gray for kids.

The Nerds and The Wussies

Here are the other two pieces in my elementary school outcasts series. I'm pretty happy with them. And now I really want to play dodgeball.

AMNESIA

This is my words on wheels piece, a poem by Brianna Knight Grade 8

Having amnesia can be as simple
as forgetting your name,
as seeing your face during the day
and forgetting it at night,

as helpless as a child
wandering around not knowing where you are.

How did I get this way? Is this
a curse set upon me?

Am I in a trance? Is my mind
being controlled?

For, I am forever traveling the
path of this lonely journey.

Will I ever remember where I’m
from? Or who I am?

....yep.

House That Jack Built Dog

This is the dog, that worried the cat, that killed the rat, that ate the malt, that lay in the house that Jack built.

and this is also the spot illustration that will accompany it on the opposing page.

Aged Warrior In Epic Changepurse Battle

This was a truly heinously boring article about the unmanageable cost of retirement...somehow I arrived at this. But it was fun. And now I have a whole new respect for buicks.

(look at it bigger, it's WAY better that way.)

Sketches

These are some of the sketches for the book dummy. A few of them (more than a few if i'm lucky) will go to final eventually. Here's the malt that lay in the house that jack built, the rat that ate the malt, the dog that worried the cat, and the maiden all forlorn.

The House That Jack Built

So here's the cover of the book I'm working on for class.

Dog, Broom, Radio Tower

This is kind of wacky, I know, but we were meant to show harmony, tension, and selection using a dog, a broom and a radio tower. I like mine, its a little bit hip, I think.

Under de Sea

Hadn't got to putting this up until now. But it's kind of fun, anyhow...deep sea diver battling huge hammerhead shark? yes please.

More of the TV Show

Here are the rest of the pieces of my tv show pitch. Gramps in rotation is pretty fun, no?

The Grasshopper and the Ants

My final for Concepts, it's the Aesop's Fable about the Grasshopper and the Ants, done in six 5x10 panels. Basically lazy hipster grasshopper doesn't prepare for the winter, studious little ants do, grasshopper starves and freezes...maybe not so uplifting, but I had fun.

TV Show Pitch

So this is my show....currently called Benny Quigly: KnickKnack Explorer. The idea is that eleven year old Benny lives with his Grandfather, Orville Quigly, who used to be a world-famous explorer. Benny wants to be just like Gramps and spends the bulk of his time on the edge of his seat, listening to tales of Gramps' glory days, with his little dog Kipling at his side. But when Gramps dozes off in the middle of the retelling, Benny and Kipling take the adventure into their own hands, through their imaginations, and the basement becomes the jungle, the attic becomes the amazon, the backyard becomes the arctic. It's sort of like wishbone meets Indiana Jones. Basically, I would so watch this show. But anyway, here are the character designs for Benny, Gramps, and Kipling, as well as a shot of Gramps' study.

Go For Broke

Editorial piece I had something like three hours to do for concepts. Its 5 by 5 inches....meant to accompany an article about how it's way too expensive to go to adult birthday parties. Not sure...but it was fun drawing and painting many cakes.
