The Girl Who Cried Closet Monster 1-5

the first five in a nine part series based on the boy who cried wolf. i updated it a bit, to the girl who cried closet monster. it almost killed me to finish all nine of these in two weeks without a sketch phase, but i somehow managed it anyway.

End of the School Year Updates

these are two from illustration II that i never put up. they're both watercolor on bristol, one with ink, one with brown colored pencil.

just cropping up everywhere

this in progress, a bit of david mamet's 'sexual perversity in chicago'. i've cast the girl on the left, joan, with an unknown, previously unseen actress, but on your right we have the famous and fabulous alyssa bell playing the part of deborah.

phone

click on this to see it...the small version look godawful. Actually, the photo isn't doing it justice no matter which one you check. But oh well. Additionally, I guess this is the first 'personal piece' I've made in a really long time. I'm psyched for the summer. God the cartoons to be had!

Mike TeeVee Again

I forgot to post the second half of this piece, so here's the rest. Also, the crit went fantastic- Dan Krall's response was "Yea, these are killer."

love it. i think the last one with the green armchair is my favorite.

"Rolling Stone" Portrait

So we had to do a portrait of a musician/band in (or proportional to) rolling stone format 7.2 x 9.2 inches. I did Erykah Badu...she's wonderful. Anyway, I doubled the size for mine, and did it in acrylic on board. Notice the absence of pen, I worked really hard to eliminate it.

Mike Teevee

these are the first four of a series of eight i'm doing for Roald Dahl's "Mike Teevee." They're 5"x 9.5" acrylic on bristol.

Raymond Carver Spots

These are two 3x3" spots for two different Raymond Carver short stories. Yikes. The first one is for "Neighbors" and the second is for "The Calm" but I definitely prefer the second piece. Overall, the whole ordeal was a bit of a nightmare. But anyway, they're ink drawing and inkwash on bristol.

Hitchhiker's Guide Character Sketches

Character sketches for narrative...pretty quick watercolors. I'm not super excited about them, but I do love arthur. oh, the order is Arthur, Mr. Prosser, and Ford Prefect

Valentines Day

This is about valentine's day. I'm into it.

Acrylic & pen.

Hitchcocked and Loaded

This is a poster I did for Hitchcock's Rebecca but I think it still needs a few tweaks...the lighting behind the dresser and the text for his name. If I ever get around to it, I'll repost it. It's acrylic and pen...shock.

Visual Journalism

These are a couple of pieces I did for Visual Journalism. The top one is city hall, baltimore city hall that is (oh how i miss little william), and its xeroxes with watercolor and acrylic. The bottom one is a piano from inside city hall and a street sign from a couple blocks down, in watecolor.

It's a Dog's Life

These are a couple of the pieces I did for Narrative Illustration, meant to accompany Dave Eggers' short story "After I was Thrown In The River and Before I Drowned." I pretty much never want to draw dogs again... but I am pleased with these.

Six Word Short Story

This is meant to illustrate the six word short story by...i believe his name is Gregory Maguire: "From Torched Skyscrapers Men Grew Wings." So I thought, how about grandpa explaining to the little boy why he's all winged and mutated.

Purple

this is for an assignment meant to illustrate "purple". i thought, why not old lady hair and little girl dresses. artificial, but fun!

Diligence/Sloth

so here's some older stuff from first semester i never got around to posting. this was a diptych on the contrasting 7 sins and 7 virtues. i picked diligence and sloth. it's acrylic on bristol.
